An ATTOM Data Solutions survey of more than 14 million home sales that covered a period between 2011 and 2017 found that May sales pull in an average of approximately 6% more than the estimated market value.
While May is the best month, June claims the best day of the year to sell your home. The survey results say that June 28 is your target date because home sales are an average of 9% over the estimated market value. Other standout dates include February 15, May 31, May 29 and June 21, with premiums all hovering around 8% or 9%.
Should you attempt, with laser precision, to sell your home on one of these dates? That would be an impressive feat, but you can attempt to get your home on the market by the end of April so that you’re more likely to receive multiple offers in May or June. The reason why May tends to come out on top is that June is the most popular month to list, and sellers who get out in front before the rush tend to get that early-bird worm.
